Sneakers, dj’s best friends

A good pair of sneakers is a househead’s best friend. Since they were primarily designed for sports or other forms of physical exercise, they make a great dancing shoe. But another big upside to sneakers is that they are fashionable items too! If you have a couple of pairs, you can match them with your outfit. Also, keeping your sneakers on rotation can only be good to them, because after a dancing night they can use a few days of rest. If you want to keep those ugly crease lines to a minimum, they need time to breathe and get back into shape.

Now, where to get those ‘I-would-never-go-out-without-them’-shoes? We did a little sneaker trip through Ghent and visited some shops!

Our first stop was Panthers. We visited their boutique in Ghent, but they have one in Brussels too. They offer a relevant mix of exclusive sneakers and refreshing streetwear labels. Looking for those hard-to-come-by Air Jordan releases? This is the place to go to. The two nice gentlemen will help you out!

THA Beauhause Dope

The next sneaker boutique on our road is Dope, located in the heart of Ghent. The shop recently got a new industrial look. The owners, Fran and Steven, are always looking for a mix of exclusive shoes for lovers and releases that appeal to a broader audience.

Last but not least we visited PRO 0032. Our northern neighbours across the border are already familiar with this chain and recently we got to know them too. Since a few months they opened a branch in the city center of Ghent. It’s a big store with lots of choice and good service. No way you will leave the store without buying 😉

Brandwise, there are plenty of choices. The most popular brand of the last years is Nike (including their affiliated Jordan brand). But Adidas, Asics, Reebok and Puma are stepping their game up as well, releasing out new and exclusive pairs almost weekly! Less mainstream, but as sexy as the brands summed up, are Saucony and New Balance. But if you want to go really exclusive (and don’t mind paying a little extra) you can always check out brands such as Common Projects, Eyteys and Filling Pieces. They offer a selection of mostly hand-made premium sneakers.

A clothing brand that goes extremely well with the sporty, raw look of sneakers is G-Star. We love to wear this brand because it always fits. A few weeks ago we got a sneak peek of the Winter/Autumn collection and we can‘t wait to try it on at G-Star Women Store Ghent (Kalandeberg 13, 9000 Gent).

We hear you thinking: “Oh my god, do I really have to get up and start a scouting expedition if I want to find exclusive shoes?” Of course not! If you’re too lazy to get out of your couch, we can recommend you following websites. But be warned, you’ll spend a few hours (and money) on these sites 😉
